Title: The Beautiful Years Part V
Author: Annie Rose Welch
Genre:Contemporary/ Mafia Romance
Release Date: November 14, 2019
Cover Designer: Buoni Amici Press
Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.
History books are written about why men go to war. Religion. Land. Oil. And the most dangerous reason of all—a woman, the kind worth risking your heart for. My wife, Scarlett Fausti, was that woman. She sparked a war amongst the world’s most dangerous men.
Enemies had attacked us from the inside, from the outside, thirsty for blood and ready to spill more for power. No one in our world could be trusted, except for a few. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
My adversaries were ready to see me on my knees. Only one person could bring me there, though—that woman, my wife. But as it’s been said, all’s fair in love and war, and to keep her alive, to keep her safe, I’d willingly fall at the feet of monsters.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her passion for writing began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightning bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.
When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. She currently resides in Texas (where everything really is bigger) with her husband, daughter, and their three peculiar dogs, Boudreaux, Tabasco, and Vanna Loo (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

“My life—the brand new life I just started—is gone. Nobody seems to care about me,” Kelsey thumped her chest as her voice cracked, “the actual person in here behind the princess title. Except for you.”
Her aching vulnerability tore into Elias like a sword straight through his gut. It tore through the rules and protocol and every layer of common sense.
All that was left was a man watching a lost, lonely woman. It was blindingly obvious what she needed. So he wrapped his arms around Kelsey and hugged her.
She didn’t cry, or even tremble. But she did heave in a deep sigh, and when she let it out, her whole body relaxed into his. Except for her arms, which slid into a tight embrace around his waist.
They sat like that for long moments. Long enough for Elias to notice the determined buzz of a bee overhead. Long enough for a peacock to strut past them, its vibrant green and blue tailfeathers dragging on the ground like a train. Long enough for Elias to also notice how his arms wrapped so far around her small frame that the tips of his fingers grazed the sides of her breasts.
He knew he should move. Readjust.
He didn’t care about should. Elias only cared about making Kelsey feel better. Feel like herself.
Feel that he did, indeed, care for her.
Finally, Kelsey lifted her head from where it rested on his collarbone. “Thank you.”
“You’re—” but before he could finish the phrase, Kelsey kissed him.
It was just a soft, faint brush of lips over lips. Probably meant to be nothing more than a continuation of her thanks. Except that something sparked between them. The one, faint touch instantly morphed into more. Elias honestly couldn’t say which one of them consciously deepened the kiss. It felt organic.
It felt necessary.
It felt right.
They clung to each other, and that soft brush grew into a real kiss. The kind he gave after a date where everything clicked, where he and the woman connected deeply. The kind he hadn’t given anyone in many, many months.
Kelsey’s beauty had struck Elias from the moment that flimsy, splotched apartment door opened. But then, as she stood her ground with such determination, as she sassed him on the plane, as she approached every step of this journey with such bravery, his feelings had changed. The involuntary, primal acknowledgement of wanting her body had flipped over into wanting her.
The pressure between their lips, between their bodies intensified. Elias moved his lips harder against hers. Kelsey pushed right back. They kissed and kissed and suddenly their tongues were tangled, tasting and teasing.
Elias groaned. God, she was delicious. Sweet. Tantalizing. And so soft every single damn place they were touching.
His hands slid up through the silk of her hair to tilt Kelsey’s head back, to deepen his angle. But then he immediately slid one palm down her back to keep her pressed close. To keep those firm breasts rubbing against his chest as she swayed her upper body.
It didn’t make up for the fact they were seated side by side, that their hips and legs and bellies weren’t rubbing together. But it was damned sexy, especially sexy, paired with the breathy little moans she kept exhaling.
“Elias,” she murmured, as his lips moved down the tantalizing column of her neck. God, he just wanted to keep going. Push that prim and proper sweater out of the way and keep lapping at the pale skin that he couldn’t get enough of.
“Princess,” he replied.
And then froze.
His subconscious had just saved him. Tossing out that automatic title had been the necessary reminder that he wasn’t only kissing Kelsey. Elias was making out with a Princess of the Realm.
Also? He was making out with his best friend’s little sister.

“Was this night worth your time? Don’t you have a boyfriend who’d like to see you once in a while? Or a life that doesn’t revolve around work?” They stepped into the elevator and he slapped at the lobby level button. Stab. Slap. He was angry and he didn’t know why. He hated not knowing something.
“This is my life, Hunt.” She giggled, the sound going straight to his dick where it proceeded to tease, caress, and kiss the traitor wide awake. “God, playing video games with you guys is gold. And then when your pal showed up proving you’re not such a cold-hearted, friendless Terminator type after all and that you might have a personality underneath that hard-ass demeanor? Icing on the cupcake.”
He opened the door to his building, ushered her out, and tried not to enjoy her bobbing pony-tail.
“So is it true?” she threw out over her shoulder.
“Is what true?”
“The Disney ice cream cake thing?”
“Where are you parked?”
“Around the corner. You don’t have to—”
But he was already eating the ground with every stride like it had offended his honor.
“Levi, what is your problem?”
“Nothing. Just making sure you get in your car and leave.” He was pissed and horny and only now realizing that he had no idea what Jordan’s car looked like.
“Here I am.” She stood by a Honda Civic, two cars back.
Retracing his steps, he tried to get his emotions under control which should not have been a problem. Emotion-wrangling was his bag. Controlling the narrative was his forte. At least, he’d thought so until he met Jordan again.
“I don’t have a boyfriend.” She pushed her key into the lock.
“You seem to be under the impression that I had someone I could be spending time with tonight instead of enjoying Erik’s weird winking and odes to herring, or Theo’s conspiracy theories as to why Chicagoland has so many mattress stores, or your curmudgeonly ways with hints of Tin Man.” She hummed If I only Had a Heart from The Wizard of Oz.
He passed over the Tin Man reference, probably because he was inexplicably relieved at the implication of her other statement. “Don’t have an opinion on your dating practices. Just something Kershaw mentioned.”
“And you believed him?”
“I didn’t not believe him. Strange thing to make up.” Especially with the graphic detail of naked photos. If she wasn’t seeing someone, then what was all that about?
She opened the door a couple of inches but still stood there. Pertly perking. “You know, the sooner you cooperate the sooner I’ll be out of your hair.”
“I’m doing everything management has ordered.”
“What you see is all you’re getting.” He was done here. Done with her teasing scent and dick-springing laugh. Done with trying to negotiate a truce between his hands and his c&*k. Just. Done. “Safe home now.” He turned to walk back, but didn’t get far.
He pivoted. “What?”
“You’ve never liked me for some stupid, God-knows-what reason and now you can’t be man enough to sit still for a few questions.”
He ignored the last part which was half—okay, all—true, and focused on the first part. “I’ve liked you fine.”
She took a step toward him, then another until she was right in his space. She looked up at him, her expression filled with fury and spirit. Typical, maddening, heart-stoppingly gorgeous Jordan. “Admit it. You can’t stand me. When I kissed you five years ago—”
“We’re not talking about that.”
“When I kissed you five years ago,” she insisted, her voice rising with each word, “it was as if I ripped out a piece of your mind! You didn’t like me. You certainly didn’t think I was right for Josh and then when we had that moment, when we were at our lowest, we were drawn to each other. You hate that of all people, it was me who made you go to this fragile, needful place. It happened and you need to get over it so we can do this interview and you never have to see me again!”

Beautiful Stepbrother by Stoni Alexander is a story of overcoming expectations, confronting desires, and unexpected discoveries. What happens when you fall for the one person you’re not supposed to? This story deals with the unexpected desires that unfold when you fall for your stepbrother. While this trope isn’t one I typically read, I’m glad I read it. I was impressed at how Stoni navigated around the sensitivity aspect of the attraction, desire, and romance in this trope.

She spun around and her heart leapt into her throat. Ohmygod, it’s him. Zander sat at the table behind her, oozing his private brand of confident sophistication and brimming with raw sensuality. Despite her wildly beating heart, she wasn’t going to let on he’d just rocked her world. He hadn’t hunted her down in New Mexico to pay her a social call, and she had no intention of caving to his demands simply because he’d flown halfway across the country to see her.
Her lips curved. “Small world, Slick.”
“Hello, Savannah.” His husky voice, coupled with that devilish gleam made her tremble.
She gave him the once over. Yesterday’s tailored suit, a light pink dress shirt, but he’d ditched the tie. She wanted to run her tongue over the exposed skin on his chest and taste every delicious inch of him. Does he know he brings the heat every damn time? He’s gotta know.“I didn’t peg you for an eavesdropper.” She kicked out the chair Gerard had vacated.
With his drink in hand, he rose. His movement was deliberate, calculated. He held her in his sights like a raptor tracking its prey. Tilting her head, she soaked up all his masculine hotness. Those deliciously broad shoulders gave way to a wide chest and a nice, tight torso. Bulging thighs pressed against the dark suit.
Pinning her with an unwavering gaze, he leaned down. Her insides tightened in anticipation of his kiss, his warm, minty breath heating her down to her toes. But he stopped shy of her cheek.
“My bad,” he murmured. “I almost kissed you hello. We can’t have that, now can we?”
Had her uptight stepbrother changed his tactic? Traded his aggressive approach for a more playful one?
Though her heart hadn’t stopped banging against her ribcage, she offered nothing more than a sly smile. “No, we can’t.” She pointed to the empty chair. “Sit.”
Stoni Alexander writes erotic romance about tortured alpha males and independent, strongwilled females. Her passion is creating love stories where the hero and heroine help each other through a crisis so that, in the end, they’re equal partners in more ways than love alone.
In a previous life, she appeared in numerous television, film and stage productions before transitioning to a successful career in business. Stoni spent her childhood moving around like a gypsy and appreciates her deepseated roots in the DC Metro area. She’s married to the love of her life, is an überproud football mom, and dreams of the day when her muse will inspire her at will.

Wyatt by Lynn Raye Harris is the fourth book in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series. A series that centers around the lives of seven friends, the family struggles and the town they live in. A book rich with family struggles, differences and betrayal have shaped each soldier into men worthy of their own story.
Wyatt Chandler has returned to Eagles Ridge after a traumatic incident with the Navy SEALs. Intent on taking care of his Gran, that’s the only thing that matters to him. Is he using her as an excuse to escape the reality of what he needs to do?
Paige Spencer, TV show reality star and Diva Princess has received threats, her father will stop at nothing to keep her safe. A little bit of time away from the public eye should be enough to track down who is after Paige. If only she was prepared for what was waiting for her, and it isn’t the paparazzi.
Wyatt will discover that he must overcome his past and what happened in the field in order to survive as a civilian. Paige is used to getting her way, or tossing her credit card to fix things. Wyatt will teach her that sometimes a little hard work can be more satisfying than just paying someone to do the job. Will Page be the one to finally help Wyatt open up and talk about why he left his unit? If both of them can open up and be truthful of what they really want, they might find out that what they truly desire is right in Eagle’s Ridge.
Are you ready for a bookcation? You won’t be able to resist Wyatt 😉 I love books with pets, and the cat in this story, OMG – love the cat. If you haven’t read any of the other books in this series fear not, they can all be read as a standalone. However, they are best enjoyed in order ;).
This two peppers spicy latte has just enough to make you tingle and is it’s for mature readers 18+.
I received this ARC from InkSlingerPR for a fair and honest review.
