Welcome to Authors Dish where your favorite authors share what they are reading. In addition, if you enjoy reading their books they have suggestions for similar book adventures by other authors. It doesn’t get better than that!

Today in the cafe are Lynne Silver, Eliza Knight and Sarah Ballance.

Rae: Who are you reading?

Lynne Silver: I’m reading Cat Sebastian, Alison Aimes, and Mary Balogh this week. Next week it may be Kristen Ashley, Megan Erickson, and Elizabeth Boyle.

Eliza Knight: I am currently reading several books at once! I’m crazy like that! I usually have one on audio, one on Kindle and one in paperback, all different genres. So on audio, I’m listing to Still Missing by Chevy Stevens. On Kindle, I’m reading A Daring Arrangement by Joanna Shupe. In paperback, I’m reading The Healthy Writer by Joanna Penn and Euan Lawson

Sarah Ballance: I autobuy everything from Entangled Lovestruck and Harlequin Intrigue, but my stash has books ranging from finance to horror. I have no idea when I’ll be able to read any of them, lol.

Rae: If readers are a fan of your books, who should they consider reading?

Lynne Silver: If you like my books you’ll probably like Tessa Bailey and Kate Meader

Eliza Knight: Madeline Martin, Lori Ann Bailey, Vonda Sinclair, and Hannah Howell

Sarah Ballance: Kira Archer and Tawna Fenske.

Rae: Thank you so much authors! Let me know dear readers if you try any of these books. I’ll see you next week – same time for new authors and more fun!

Eliza Knight:  Eliza Knight is an award-winning and USA Today bestselling author of over fifty sizzling historical, time-travel and contemporary romance novels. Under the name E. Knight, she pens rip-your- heart-out historical fiction. While not reading, writing or researching for her latest book, she chases after her three children. In her spare time (if there is such a thing…) she likes daydreaming, wine-tasting, traveling, hiking, staring at the stars, watching movies, shopping and visiting with family and friends. She lives atop a small mountain with her own knight in shining armor, three princesses and two very naughty puppies.

Sarah Ballance: Sarah and her husband of what he calls “many long, long years” live on the mid-Atlantic coast with their six young children, all of whom are perfectly adorable when they’re asleep. She never dreamed of becoming an author, but as a homeschooling mom, she often jokes she writes fiction because if she wants anyone to listen to her, she has to make them up. As it turns out, her characters aren’t much better than the kids, but nevertheless, you’ll find her writing sexy contemporary romance for Entangled Publishing until they throw her out. The Breeder by Lynne Silver – Review and Excerpt

The Breeder by Lynne Silver – Review and Excerpt

The Breeder by Lynne Silver is a spicy fast paced novella that takes us into a world where few are still lucky enough to have human contact, or free to make choices. A must read dystopian love story that speaks about being in touch with your feelings, the world around you, and whether or not you choose to numb yourself in the face of the unknown.

Jane is one of the chosen, a Breeder. Will it be a chore or a death sentence? Is there the possibility for desire, or is that taken away from her as well? When your heart yearns for one man, the probability that he will be your forever is a dream. I just love where this story is headed. Can Jane fulfill her duties despite her heart attached to someone else?

What would you do if you discovered you weren’t like everyone else, or those who have been where you are? Confused? Don’t be, a world where sex is merely for procreation is not easy to process but Lynne shows you Jane’s reality. What makes it exciting is the secrets that Jane keeps to ensure her safety, and survival. Will she play the game, or create a new one to spend the rest of her life with the one man she can’t live without?

Ethan has one goal, to outlast and outsmart his competitors, his fate rests on one moment. If anyone were to discover the truth regarding his journey, it could destroy any chance for real love. Ethan is a hero who we dream about, a man that is willing to sacrifice everything for the one woman he loves. There is no risk too small that he’s not willing to take, even if it could mean death.

Discover for yourself a compelling and intense read about second chances, the ability to find a human connection in a world where it’s certain to become extinct. Machines have taken over even the simplest act and yet, it’s the one thing we as readers can’t imagine living without.

This Spicy Latte is best enjoyed with your favorite iced-beverage, a cozy chair, and maybe a fan.  Oh, and yes, it’s for mature readers 18+.

I received this ARC from the author for a fair and honest review.

Please note that I’ve changed how I rate the heat factor for all reviews. You can find my new Spicy Latte Ratings here.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“You’re on, Jane,” Michael said.

I smiled out to the audience hoping to convey my impartiality to the home viewers. My fingers trembled as I lowered my hand into the bowl. For good show, I rustled my hand around, taking care to tease out the anticipation, but not take too long for fear the males in the audience would revolt.

Several members of the Guard stood at strategic points in the auditorium to ensure the process would go without violence. It was one hundred men against a dozen, even if those dozen had serious weapons.

I drew out the first name and handed the folded card to Michael. He smoothed it open and read out, “Simon Carter.” Behind us, the name flashed on the screen in the number one slot. I scanned the audience looking for the man named Simon Carter to come running up the aisle to claim his prize. No applause or cheers accompanied him. This surprised me. When I watched in previous years from my dorm room, it had always sounded as if the studio audience had gone wild. Instead, reality was silent.

“This is a competition. They won’t cheer for their opponent,” Michael said under his breath as he interpreted my confusion. “Smile.” I now understood the cheers had been dubbed in for the home audience and forced the smile back on my face. I wondered what else was different for the home audience. What other surprises were headed my way?

Another second passed before the first candidate bounded up the steps and onto the stage. He towered over me. His expression was pure intent as he stalked over to me and yanked me to him for a kiss. This I’d been expecting. Each candidate got to kiss the Breeder before the real competition began. I hadn’t been expecting his height and strength as he overwhelmed me with his power.

Back at school, girls kissed all the time. Those innocent kisses had not prepared me for the feel of a man’s body pressing against mine. I felt dainty and petite against him.

The kiss went on for long seconds, leaving me breathless and clinging to his wide shoulders. “You’re gonna be mine,” he growled against my ear before stepping back.

I nodded mutely. Maybe he would be the winner. He seemed strong enough to me.

Coffee With Lynne Silver

Coffee With Lynne Silver

Rae: Thank you so much for hanging out with me today. If we were meeting at a coffee shop I’d be drinking a spiced latte with Coconut Milk. 🙂 ! What would you order?

Lynne: I’d order tea, but I’d want it to be hot cocoa.

Rae: As fall is finally here, do you have any traditions? Do you decorate the house with the change of season?

Lynne: My street tends to go all out for Halloween, and my family does also. We’ve got a lot of big decorations.

Rae: For those hanging out today that are not familiar with your work, you write about hot sexy nights in Miami, military romance, a few Alpha Heroes, standalone Contemporary and Historical. That’s a lot. How do you keep it all organized and prevent unexpected “visits” into other worlds.

Lynne: I tend to work on 1-2 projects at once, and all of them have a book bible to help me keep track of things.

Rae: Your Worthy Series has a realness to it, did you spend time in Miami to capture all those little details? Can we expect more books in this series? Other series?

Lynne: I grew up in Miami and my parents still live there. I go down several times a year. The Worthy series is really a love song to my hometown. I’m thinking that Javier and Gabriel will be getting stories. But not for a while.

Rae: I know that you love baseball, are you excited about where your team is heading into the playoffs?

Lynne: Of course I’m excited that the Nationals are NL East Division champs!!! Bring on October!

Rae: Can we expect to see any sports infused into your books?

Lynne: Unlikely. I like sports romances, but I think other authors have cornered that market.

Rae: When you are writing a book, do you plot it out page by page, chapter by chapter? Or, do your characters guide you?

Lynne: I plot out story beats and do character sketches. That’s about it.

Rae: What can we expect to see on the bookshelves in the upcoming months? Do you have any new series in the works that you can give us a tease?

Lynne: I have a story called The Breeder coming out in January with Carina Press’s Dirty Bits line. It’s set in a future dystopian America, and it’s definitely the dirtiest thing I’ve ever written. How’s that for a tease?

Rae: It was so much fun having you here today!

Worthwhile (The Worthy Series) by Lynne Silver

Worthwhile (The Worthy Series) by Lynne Silver

Worthwhile by Lynne Silver is set in Miami where the nights are full of action with complex characters that are addictive and keep you reading till the very last page. This story has all the feels that make Miami sizzle. Get your party clothes on, the club is packed with music that will keep you dancing for hours, the men are hot, and the chemistry is even hotter.

Olivia Rodriguez comes from a family that is overprotective and controlling, in a loving-sorta-way. When an opportunity falls into Olivia’s lap, it forces her to make a choice that will involve risks and adventure. I love how daring Olivia is despite the environment she grew up in, and her ability to take a chance despite the consequences is admirable.

Drew Weaver must overcome the daemons that haunt him, and family expectations impact his choices. Can he separate the two? If not, he just might push away the one thing he wants. Drew will bring Olivia to her knees, how she responds depends on whether or not she’s ready to be honest. Will she start living life the way she desires?

The weekend is fast approaching and it’s time to add a lot of heat to your e-reader. With a dash of faith and a sprinkling of trust, this relationship promises to be intense and intoxicating. The infusion of language, culture and hotness that makes Miami so special adds to the essence of the story. It sizzles. Lynne’s writing leaves you wanting more and that’s a great thing because What It’s Worth just released and it’s time for more. You are worthy of reading this series and your e-reader will thank you!

Spice up your week with these must reads!

Crossing Hearts by Kimberly Kincaid is the first installment in a fresh new series that will leave you dreaming of sexy farmers. Yes, farmers are sexy ;).  If you have a passion for great cooking, enjoy characters with electric chemistry, and a huge helping of spice – one-click this book! If you are a fan of Kimberly’s firefighter series than you are going to LOVE her Cross Creek series. It’s time to get out of the city (sorry Station Seventeen) and escape to the Shenandoah.

Hunter Cross has always put his family first and when an old injury threatens to derail him from his job on the farm, he reluctantly seeks treatment. It’s what he doesn’t expect that sends his system into a tailspin and question, can he live with the pain?

Emerson Montgomery has worked hard to make something of her career, to be taken seriously and keep her reputation solid.  When an old flame resurfaces, can she keep the truth regarding her recent return to town under wraps? If her secret gets out, it just might destroy them both.

I’m looking forward to reading the next installment in this spicy must read. Secrets, family saga and small town goodness. I will confess one warning, you must read this after you have consumed a hearty meal 😉 Kimberly’s love of food is woven throughout this story. Between the fresh produce and home cooking you are bound to find yourself in a constant food coma – yum!
With the heat and intensity in this book I give it 3 Peppers as it’s pretty hot and might offend. For mature readers 18+3 Jalepenos

“I’ve got a patient for you, so I thought I’d pop over to see if you have an opening today,” Doc Sanders said.

Emerson thought of her schedule, complete with the tumbleweeds blowing through its wide- open spaces, and bit back the urge to laugh with both excitement and irony. “I’m sure I can fit someone in. What’s the injury?”

“Rotator cuff. X-rays and MRI are complete, and Dr. Norris, the orthopedist in Camden Valley, ordered PT. But the patient is local, so I figured if you could take him, it’d be a win-win.”

“Of course.” An odd sensation plucked up Emerson’s spine at the long-buried memory of a blue-eyed high school boy with his arm in a sling and a smile that could melt her like butter in a cast-iron skillet. “Um, my schedule is pretty flexible. What time did he want to come in?”

“Actually, he’s a little anxious to get started, so he came directly here from the ortho’s office . . .”
Doc Sanders turned toward the hallway leading to her waiting room, where a figure had appeared in the doorframe. Emerson blinked, trying to get her brain to reconcile the free-flowing confusion between the boy in her memory and the man standing in front of her. The gray-blue eyes were the same, although a tiny bit more weathered around the edges, and weirdly, the sling was also a match. But the person staring back at her was a man, with rough edges and sex appeal for days, full of hard angles and harder muscles under his jeans and T-shirt . . .
Hunter Cross.

Emerson stood with her feet anchored to the linoleum, unable to move or speak or even breathe. For the smallest scrap of a second, she tumbled back in time, her heart pounding so hard beneath her crisp white button-down that surely the traitorous thing would jump right out of her chest.

A blanket of stars littering the August sky . . . the warm weight of Hunter’s varsity jacket wrapped around her shoulders . . . the warmer fit of his mouth on hers as the breeze carried his whispers, full of hope . . . “Don’t go to New York. Stay with me, Em. Marry me and stay here in Millhaven where we’ll always have this, just you and me . . .”
“Emerson? What . . . what the hell are you doing here?”

The deeper, definitely more rugged-around-the-edges version of his voice tipped the scales of her realization all the way into the present. She needed to say something, she knew, she knew, but her mouth had gone so dry that she’d have better luck rocketing to the moon in a paper airplane right now.

“I work here,” Emerson finally managed, the truth of the words—of what they meant—delivering her back to reality with a hard snap. She hadn’t returned to Millhaven for a jaunt down memory lane. Hell, she’d only come back when her process of elimination had dead-ended in total despair. She was here for one thing, and one thing only. To bury herself in as much work as her body would allow.
Even if her first client probably hated her guts.

Author Info:Headshot Kincaid
Kimberly Kincaid writes contemporary romance that splits the difference between sexy and sweet. When she’s not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as “The Pleather Bomber”, she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to éclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. Kimberly is a USA Today best-selling author and a 2015 RWA RITA® finalist who lives (and writes!) by the mantra that food is love. Kimberly resides in Virginia with her wildly patient husband and their three daughters. Visit her any time at or come check her out on Facebook ( and Twitter (@kimberlykincaid).

Worthless by Lynne Silver is the second book in The Worthy series and is set in Miami. The perfect vacation destination you can one-click right now for $0.99. This intimate must read is even better than the first installment, and I LOVED Unworthy.

Danny Ross is a man with a dark past. Throughout all the ups and downs there has been one person who has stood by him. Will she have the strength to stay by his side this time?

Amy Stern was in love with Danny a long time ago. What’s a girl to do when her heart and mind have an epic battle? Is the devil you know better than the one you don’t? While she’s a savvy business woman, she finds herself in a compromising position that will require a leap of faith, a lot of trust and hopefully the happy ending she deserves.

Lynne crafts characters that gently sweep you into their world of friendships, love and even some that are awkward and taboo.  It’s real life, gritty, raw and emotionally unpredictable. Brace yourself dear reader, you will find yourself hooked from the first page and a devoted fan thereafter. This story is one that I waited patiently for after I finished Unworthy.

Everyone can use a hot escape for just a few hours. This three pepper spicy latte is a must read that sizzles. I have my fingers crossed on which character has their happy-ever-after next. It just has to be Lynne ;)!
